Who is Claus?

Claus has been teaching CI at festivals and workshops across Eastern and Western Europe and in Asia for over a decade. His teaching style is relaxed and humorous, and he focuses on both helping dancers develop a deep understanding of the mechanics of moving together in a safe and friendly way

What is CI about?

Contact Improvisation is a form of improvised dancing. It was created in 1972 by dancer and choreographer Steve Paxton as a way of researching dance by exploring one’s body in relationship to others and playing with momentum, falling, counterbalance, finding the shelves of the body, learning the mechanics of the body in order to handle someone else’s weight or be lifted, etc. Today, CI is practised worldwide in so-called “jams”. It is popular both among professional dancers who may use CI to develop material for their performances and among CI dancers who use CI as a social dance and a way to meet and have fun together.
